 Patriots “Corral” Bulls

The #1 seeded Ward Melville Patriots defeated the Smithtown Bulls, 15-5, in an important Div. 1 contest.  The offense was lead today by Seniors Monfett (4/4), Miaritis (3/3) and Jautze (2/2) who combined for a total of 16 points.

The Patriots continue to develop their team defense with the long poles protecting Goalie Gentilesco (4 saves) from facing many shots.  The close defense of Kelaher, Rapisarda and Seale, kept the Smithtown offense off-balance throughout the contest.

Offensively, Melville used 10 players to score 15 goals on 12 assists.  Face-offs were key in today’s win with Melville winning 16 of 24, with Ferraro (6/10) and Middleton (6/8) dominating the face-off circle. 

Although Melville dominated their opponent today, the Patriots uncharacteristically turned the ball over to Smithtown with errant passes that created opportunity for the Bulls…taking care of the ball will be key to the Patriots’ success in the upcoming post-season.

The box scores were 2-0 1^st, 8-1 2^nd, 11-3 3^rd and 15-5 final.

The Patriots will host Bayshore on 5/16 at 4pm.
