PATRIOTS DOMINATE LONGWOOD 19 - 5 Ward Melville overpowered Longwood at the
Patriots home field with a display of offensive scoring, defensive intensity,
and dominance on a bright spring afternoon of With a new defense engineered by returning Coach Bill Martens, the Patriots were able shut down the Longwood offense. WM scoring was led, once again, by junior attackman David Schwartzberg and senior attackman Jon Matsui with 5 and 4 goals, respectively. The Patriots attackman were complimented with two goals each by senior midfielders John Keysor and Ed Rogan, and junior midfielder Ryan Preuss. Senior midfielder Ed Rogan provided many highlights of the day with full length field runs, unassisted goals, and assists. For the start of the 2nd half, Ward Melville won the face-off and that set the tone for scoring four more goals and a defensive intensity. On one play, junior attackman Andrew Vorwald made an excellent feed to junior attackman Gregory Weisman to score WM’s 18th goal. Preuss scored the final goal of the game with yet another assist from senior Ed Rogan. Juniors Shane Brennan and Justin Arini combined for some solid goalkeeping to hold the Lions to only 3 goals in the 2nd half. Final score WM 19 Longwood 5. CONGRATULATIONS
