WARD MELVILLE 12      BRENTWOOD 0

APRIL 15, 1999

Melville shutout the Brentwood Indians at the Brentwood field today. The boys worked patiently against a tight zone defense - having to pick their shots more carefully. Brentwood's goalie (Rivera, 20 saves) was focused and saved more shots than anyone expected. The ball rotation opened up opportunities for Kurt Gerry who had two goals. (All game statistics and photos will be listed below game stories). Brendan Morgan had 5 assists; Nick Mayer, Brett Raboy, Drew Casino, Todd Cunningham (3g), and Matt Monfett (4g,3a) also rang the bell. Senior attackman Billy Pohmer saw action throughout the game and the balance of the Melville squad also had welcomed field time for much of the second half.

Congratulations to the defense on their first shutout of the season. Chris Passavia, Brian Mendez, and Nick Belvedere along with the long sticks did a great job preventing shots and regaining possessions. The team can now focus on the Coca Cola Classic at 8pm this Saturday April 17 against perennial lacrosse power Yorktown. The first game of the evening starts at 6pm featuring Stony Brook School Vs Shoreham-Wading River which should be a good game.

Be there. Its a great night of lacrosse!
