The duo of Preuss and Monfett exchanged the favor moments later with Preuss scoring on an assist from Matt Monfett. They are working well and seem to know where each other is on the field at all times.

Will Passavia then took control and with a variety of dodges and an assortment of outstanding shots began his day scoring two quick goals.  Will would go on to have a career scoring day with four goals.

Kurt Gerry found the range with a strong outside shot from the left of the cage to make the score 5-0. Brendan Morgan scored to end the first quarter with Melville ahead 6-0.

Melville continued their tough play scoring 7 goals in the second quarter to make the score 13-1 at half-time. The scoring was fast and furious with contributions from Monfett (4g/2a), Biel (1g/0a), Mayer (1g/1a), Casino (1g/2a), Gerry (2g/1a) and Will Passavia (4g/0a).

The Patriots showed outstanding team speed.   The defense had a strong game with a great game by Brian Mendez.  He has matured into the player he can be and has confidence in his checking ability.  His defensive team-mates of Chris Passavia, Nick Belvedere and Ryan Kelaher played well.   Contributions were noted from Chris Mele, Paul Marchisotto and Vinny Oliver.

In the third quarter Melville slowed the pace, diversified the attack, and scored three goals.  Will Passavia scored his fourth goal of the day, Kurt Gerry and Matt Monfett added the other two. The team is preparing.   They need the diversity and depth in the tournement this year.

Derek Kunkel had 4 saves.  One at point blank range.  It seems that he does not have to work hard against this competition.   Come play-off time he will be challenged.

Congratulations to the seniors! They have completed their Melville career undefeated on the back field. Will Passavia, Nick Mayer, Chris Biel, Brett Raboy, Matt Jungers, Derek Kunkel, Brian Mendez, Vinny Oliver, Derrick Preuss, Brendan Morgan, Mike Carolan, and Bill Pohmer...Great Job Boys!!!! Go Patriots!!!
