WARD MELVILLE 18     CONNETQUOT 4

MAY 16, 2000 TUESDAY 4:00 PM

With the sun shining on the Backfield and a relaxed Coach Cuozzo and squad returning after a power packed eight days of lacrosse, the Patriots returned to form with an exemplary team performance. Connetquot, though not a match for Melville, played a good game of lacrosse under their new coach.

One of the pleasures of the day was to see the ball movement that has been somewhat lacking towards the mid and late season. Eyes were everywhere...you could feel the difference of movement on and off the ball and the radar of the ball carrier to track a good look. The attack unit of Matt Monfett, Jon Matsui, and Josh Ben-Eliyahu were threading the needle in and out of traffic. The midfield line of Drew Casino, Kurt Gerry, and Nick Miaritis was crisp handling the ball and creating attack opportunities. The defense looked refreshed and ready to play.

Great play from all the lines on both sides of the field including Woodsy stopping some good shots in the second half. Josh B, Drew, and Kurt had strong offensive performances which look exceptionally good coming into the playoffs.

We all wish Todd Cunningham a speedy recovery and hope he is able to be with the team to provide his leadership throughout the remainder of the 2000 campaign.

Melville ball. The team game. When these guys are tuned in to each other, they are awesome.

Work Hard. Go Patriots!
