the Ward Melville Patriots.
In ’98 he was named ‘Rookie of the Year’ in Suffolk and was a member of the Empire Team. As a member of the 1998 Patriot defense, along with All American Matt Grosso (Brown) and Mike Duffy (Cornell), he helped set a new record for fewest goals against by any Melville squad ever and played in the State Championship for the first time. In ’99 Chris was All County, Academic All County and honored as an All American. He played with a shoulder injury throughout the playoffs and earned the defensive MVP for the '99 State Championship Win. That same year Chris received the Junior Class Athlete of the year at WM High School. That summer he was again selected to the Long Island Empire Team and provided leadership as a Captain and a Silver Medal. Chris is currently a captain of this years Patriots and has enjoyed a high national ranking throughout the college recruiting process. Involved in soccer and football in youth leagues, Chris became a successful running back for Melville's varsity football team as a Sophomore and Junior. Other serious interests include acting and performance. He is currently a member of ‘Camerata’ which is a premiere jazz vocal group at WMHS that performs regionally. He also performed in a variety of plays including dramatic roles as well as the lead role in the school's main production. As a senior, his (authored) one-act play was selected by the drama department and performed in the school with excellent reviews. After a difficult choice with excellent school options Chris will be attending the Honors Program at the University of Maryland. He was also selected from the Honors Program to be part of the "Presidents Colloquium" at the university. He is especially looking forward to joining and playing with his brother Willy who is currently a freshman midfielder on the second line at Maryland. But before he leaves Melville he is determined to get back to the finals for one more crack at a New York State Championship. SAT 1390 GPA 4.0
